Computer already started:
1.) Click the start button and select run.
2.) Type "command" and press enter or click OK.
3.) This will open a DOS window
4.) Now type, "ping 66.207.234.1" and press enter.
5.) If DSL is working properly you will get some replies from
66.207.234.1 If working go to section
(A).
6.) If you get a message "request timed out" you will need to
find out what your IP address is.
7.) In the same DOS window type "winipcfg" this should open
the "IP configuration window.
8.) When the "IP configuration" window opens there will be a
location that shows the adapter type. (PPP adapter,
Ethernet card, or Efficient Networks 3060 Speadstream)
9.) Click the down arrow at the right hand side of this list box
and select the adapter you are using for your DSL
connection. Ethernet card for external DSL modems or
Efficient Networks 3060 Speadstream for internal modem
10.) Once you have selected the correct adapter for DSL
connection, locate the "IP Address" box on the window.
IP address should be 66.207.*.*. (the * denotes a
varying range of numbers automatically assigned by
a server on the network.)
11.) If IP address is anything other than 66.207.*.*., then you
can click the "Release All" and then click "Renew All". If
DSL is working properly, IP address should change to a
variation of 66.207.*.*.
12.) When you click "Renew All" and it returns an error or IP
address of 169.*.*.* For internal DSL modems users,
restart the computer.
For external DSL modem users, restart the computer and external DSL
modem.When
everything has rebooted repeat the process above starting at step #1. If no success after
repeated attempts going through the steps above please contact tech
support listed below.
